23 Affirmations To Simplify

Earlier this week I reflected back on the year, and like calm cool breeze passing over me, I had a revelation.

It’s time to simplify. Warren and I are both somewhat ambitious. I can’t think of a time where we haven’t been traveling like crazy or juggling events or projects or our small businesses. We both love the feeling of setting a goal, making it happen, and blowing that thang out the water.

2020 however, even before the quarantine, felt different. We were coming off a crazy amazing 2019, and it seemed as if there was no letting up… until the first renovation cancelled all my little plans. That should have been a sign haha

To say the least, Corona has radically changed our lives, and I find myself trying to wrap my head around what the future looks like in the times of corona. Whenever I try to start planning, there I am coming back to the same thought, simplify.

The life we built was very much tailored to pre-corona comforts and opportunities, and now, everything is constantly changing in ways we haven’t seen before. So, it’s important to take a step back, embrace this new stretch of the journey, and be genuinely open to new ways of building a life we love.

Before we get started, let’s do a quick exercise. Jot down the top 5 things you’ve enjoyed most since the pandemic hit back in March. This might sound odd, but to me, these 5 things are my new anchors and things we’ve enjoyed most in this season. To me, that suggests that they are the things we should do more of as we set a new foundation.

My top 5:

  1. Spending more quality time with friends and loved ones -even if it’s virtually.

  2. Learning how to cook 😅💪🏿👩🏿‍🍳😂

  3. A return to nature and exploring

  4. Coming up with ideas/ways (mostly diy) to rework and redesign our space

  5. An intentional shift dedicated to more quiet time for self-care mentally/emotionally/spiritually

*And as a bonus, after months of feeling stuck, I’ve finally let myself begin to dream again 🥰

Take a deep breath in, breathe out. Deep breath in, breathe out.

Visualize yourself happy, content, and exactly where you are supposed to be.

Let’s begin.

  1. My mind is a ease.

  2. I am thankful to have woken up this morning.

  3. I am open to building the vision I have for my life in new ways.

  4. I embrace this new normal.

  5. I rebuke feelings of insecurity and anxiety.

  6. Depression has no place in my life.

  7. I am learning myself in new and beautiful ways.
