Breathing Realization Exercise: Come Home to You ✨
I thought I knew the importance of the breath prior to having kids, but since becoming a toddler mom, I spend at least a few minutes a day breathing with my kids to help them regulate their emotions. It’s a beat for the both of us when a moment has gone left and we need to get centered.
For all the ways that I endear towards the idea of simpler times of the past, I really am so thankful to be a mom today.
Here’s a gentle Breathing + Realization Exercise you can do anytime you’re feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or just need to reset and come home to yourself:
Let’s begin 💫
Breathing Realization Exercise: Come Home to You ✨
(5–10 minutes || great for moms, creatives, or anyone needing a moment of grounding)
Step 1:
Get Comfortable
Sit or lie down in a quiet space. Rest your hands softly on your belly or heart.
Close your eyes. Drop your shoulders. Unclench your jaw.
Give yourself permission to be here.
Step 2:
Breathe In Rhythm
Repeat this pattern slowly 5 times:
Inhale through your nose (4 counts):
Feel your belly expand. Let air fill all the spaces you’ve been holding tight.
Hold (4 counts):
Let the breath settle in you like truth you forgot you needed.
Exhale through your mouth (6 counts):
Release the pressure. Let go of the “shoulds.” Soften into now.
Step 3:
Whisper These Realizations
With each breath cycle, say one realization—out loud or silently.
“I’m allowed to pause. Nothing good rushes me.”
“I don’t have to prove anything to be worthy of peace.”
“Even now, I am becoming. Growth doesn’t always look loud.”
“God didn’t bring me this far to leave me confused.”
“Coming home to myself is my birthright, not a luxury.”
Repeat or stay on the one that resonates the most.
Step 4:
Seal It With Gratitude
Place one hand over your heart. Whisper:
“Thank you, body, for carrying me.
Thank you, breath, for bringing me back.
Thank you, God, for walking with me—especially when I forget.”
