Affirmations To Bless And Release

This funny thing happens when you take a step back to assess things. I always feel like different experiences and reflections trigger this response.

Sometimes we’re overwhelmed, or we’ve got a ton of things going on, so we sweep things under the rug... But we all know that things swept under the rug aren’t gone, just tucked away.

Years ago, I was sitting at brunch with a group of girlfriends at my parent’s house. It’s such a good memory. I can picture it like it was yesterday. We were in the backyard, the sun was shining with a cool breeze, and as I told them a story about something that had hurt my feelings, my friend Veronica jumps in, funny as ever, and says, “Gf, BLESS AND RELEASE!

We all laughed and repeated it back with her, but jokes aside, it’s a mantra that has stayed with me after all these years.

What I love so much about it is that it’s not a dismissal of your feelings or disappointment. It’s simply a healthy way of choosing to move on from the things that most likely should not be taking up space in your heart or mind.

We grandfather things into our present: relationships, dreams, jobs, friendships, connections, ideas, these houses 🤦🏾‍♀️😂, lifestyles, and so on. Sometimes, without even realizing that we haven’t asked ourselves why we still create space for them or carry them with us.

So, as I come into this special next chapter of my life, I’m having somewhat of a moment of clarity. I’ve asked myself what the theme of this year is on several occasions, and its clear that one of them is to lovingly clean house and do a proper bless and release 💕

Ready?

Close your eyes. Take a deep breath in, a deep breath out. (Repeat x3)

Breathe in. Envision the moments you’ve felt happiest, most fulfilled, most alive, most at peace. Now, envision the things you’d like to let go and breathe out. From the top of your head to the bottom of your feet Release all tension you feel in your body and repeat.

In my meditation this week, she said something so significant, “Don’t beat yourself up for enjoying the feeling of thinking back on times where maybe you felt happier, or more successful, or more loved, those are all good things.”

Where we get stuck is perceiving those memories as isolated feelings connected to a specific set of circumstances.

If the feeling of being loved, or great friendships, or good times, or money in the bank is what puts the sparkle in your eye, what we actually want is to simply continue to feel those good feelings.

The key is knowing and believing in your heart that the same feelings (or maybe something even better!) can come packaged in a number of different ways, through a number of different people and experiences.

So today, we’re going to focus on reinforcing the good and leaving behind the bad.
