36 taught me: 37 takeaways to carry into my new year ❤️

A note to self ❤️

  1. I’m starting a daily gratitude journal. Life had its way with us for a stretch, and even though we’ve been through some tough times over the last few years, it’s time to recenter my focus on the things that make me feel good.

  2. Investing in good friendships has filled my cup in a way that I can’t explain. I love my girls (and guys haha) but especially my girls. I’m just so very thankful for them.

  3. Have people over and go see your people. A house full of loved ones visiting/staying over makes my heart so very happy

  4. Life is not happening in my phone, it happens in the world around us.

  5. Disconnect, unannounced from socials.

  6. My brain sees the world differently when I’m not constantly bombarding myself with external content.

  7. Reconnect with the things that bring me joy.

  8. A reminder that when I’m feeling off, the essence of me and who I am and what I like and what brings me joy can be found in my camera roll.

  9. Keep taking pictures of EVERYTHING. The big things the little things, all the things.

  10. PRINT THE PICTURES. Split up your favorites from your camera roll into chunks and send them in. You never regret having these moments to look back on.

  11. My love for traveling is not in my head. It really is one of my favorite things.

  12. Don’t wait until things completely fall apart to pray for God to heal/restore relationships

  13. God answers prayers

  14. Get specific with those prayers. I’ve been checking off this list left and right.

  15. If you like something, get it wear it buy it love it.

  16. We only live once make it worth your while.

  17. Being pregnant is hard for me, really hard. And even though I couldn’t be more thankful for these babies of ours. I’m thankful to be closing that chapter and simply focus on this family of ours.

  18. Speaking of family, no one will try you like 2 year old on a mission -every day is the mission

  19. Resilience is key

  20. Start drinking water first thing in the morning and get a morning routine back up and running. You know how much it means to you.

  21. It’s okay to walk away from things, people, places that no longer make you feel good. Just let it go girl. It’s no biggie. You’ve got enough on your hands as it is

  22. 9 times out of 10, it’s all in your head

  23. MORE OFTEN THAN NOT it’s all In Your Head

  24. Invest in things worth investing in

  25. Try something new

  26. Outsource whatever you can, even if it’s not all the time. Even if it’s not as often as you’d like. You’ve never regretted it.

  27. Stop making assumptions about what people can or can’t or won’t do. Your people love you and you family. Let them be a part of it.

  28. It’s okay to say no and be told no. We’re all doing the best we can with what we’ve got.

  29. I have to shamelessly admit to myself that sugar cookies are my favorite cookie.

  30. I operate best when I’m organized. It’s time to get organized

  31. These Netflix documentaries have bullied me into realizing that it’s finally time to start prioritizing my diet.

  32. Mom guilt is a real thing, especially after 2 for me. It’ll always feel there aren’t enough hours in the days and that somehow the days are also too long. You just have to do your best to be present and show yourself a little grace.

  33. Picking a warm, loving, committed spouse is one of the most important decisions you’ll ever make. Know when something is special. Cherish that man, don’t take him for granted and remember to be intentional about thanking God for the life y’all are building.

  34. Getting older is showing me that nostalgia doesn’t only have to be a feeling. It can be something tangible that can be enjoyed. Steal some Christmas decorations from mom’s house, buy photo albums, cook the meals you ate growing up. Traditions are such a sweet thing to have even if you go about it in a nontraditional way.

  35. Take the babymoon. Do the maternity shoot. Have the baby shower.  Do something for milestones and special occasions. It doesn’t matter if it’s in your house. I don’t care if you just drive over to the next city. You deserve to bask and celebrate in the beauty of your life and the things happening in it.

  36. Honor your convictions. There are some things that you know at your core will radically change your well being. It’s okay to trust yourself.

  37. You are more adaptable than you think, so aim high. Really high. If the foundation is there, you’ll find a way to pull yourself up again and again on the way up.
