Affirmations For Healing 💫

Grieving has been such a foreign experience. I’ve been kind of torn about writing about it -mostly because it’s been too hard to. Back when I first started TheCoffeyBreak, the first blog post I remember writing was about my grandmother Coffey’s passing. In the post, I described it as a moment that freezes you in time.

Where everything comes to a standstill in the blink of an eye. It’s almost as if I’m feeling everything so strongly that time stops for a sec, and that sentiment is something I use for experiences both good and bad.

Over the last few weeks, I’ve joked with Maddy about how I’ve either devoured everything in sight or had absolutely no appetite at all. How late nights and early mornings are the hardest, and those quiet times just still enough to remember.

Or the toughest one, the gravity of knowing that so many people I love are hurting just as much as I am, if not more. In the past, when someone was going through something we rallied around that person. Trying to figure out how to be there for each other despite the fact that we’re all going through it. Y’all. It’s just such a wild twilight type otherworldly experience because losing someone impacts everyone.

We apologize for crying, we hate feeling like we’re imposing, or making people uncomfortable. Why? It’s the most natural thing in the world to want to cry when you’re hurting, and yet somehow there’s a cultural sense to hold it together even in situations where you absolutely cannot.

For all the times and reasons when we’ve told ourselves to be strong, we should absolutely have a list of times where we can just be. Whether that’s sad, or happy, or down, or laughing.

Even when we don’t know how to process because it’s unbelievably difficult and hard and overwhelming and sad. In my small sample set of experiences with grief, I know that it simply takes time.

Time to heal. Time to start again. Time to find peace with it all and try to move forward.

Here’s a set of affirmations in hopes that anyone struggling with loss might find comfort, even if it’s just for the moment.

Praying for y’all and sending so so much love your way ❤️ Xoxo -Chels
